Both myself and Aisha Albritton of Atlanta Media Partners experienced how LECBU rolled out the red carpet on August 25, 2024 for it's 5th annual honorary doctoral degree ceremony in Atlanta, GA. Among the honorary recipients were A-list celebrities and high profile influencers such as Tyrese Gibson, Brely Evans, Rickey Smiley, Jekalyn Carr, Damienne Flagler along with other special guests. This was a special event to remember located at an exclusive & luxurious private location hosted by Dr. K. C. Fox. President Dr. Verna Caddie & Dr. Ashley Little recognized each graduate for their roles and work put into the areas of humanitarianism, dramatic arts, public relations, etc. So what exactly is an honorary doctorate degree?

An honorary doctorate degree is an academic degree that a university or other institution awards to someone who has made significant contributions to society or a specific field. Experience, in my opinion, is better than just learning the field vs actually working in the field. This is why certain programs requires both hands on experience and extended studying before being eligible to work in certain fields. It takes hands on experience to master a craft. Tyrese Gibson is one of the graduates who I would like to place the light on. "I'm a doctor now, it bet not be no arguments in my house", said Dr. Gibson. We all know Dr. Gibson from his singing career along with his starring roles in the movies Baby Boy, Fast & Furious up to his current acting role in the thriller "1992" produced by Lionsgate movies. Dr. Gibson is one of few who has survived trauma and from the looks of still surviving trauma from his past and presence. He isn't shy of speaking of his issues within himself. His unwavering determination to keep moving forward in spite of major setbacks is outstanding. Cheers to his continued success and others who are still pressing forward to be their better version of themselves regardless of their past transgressions.
